Start by visiting the Azkura Center and finish with a great cooking experience

The Basque Cooking class experience begins with a visit to one of the most fascinating buildings in Bilbao, the Centro Azkuna. an historical building which started as a wine warehouse in 1909 but has also served multiple functions since then. Your Sherpa will take you through this fascinating structure and explain why it has been declared “Public Property of Cultural Interest” in 1999. Afterwards, you can share an aperitif before attending a cooking class suitable for everyone. A professional chef will teach you some of the best local recipes and help you prepare an authentic Basque meal, with appetizer, entrée and dessert in a simple and fun manner. Then, it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy the great meal you all have prepared during the class.

You will have plenty of time during this experience to get the local perspective on Bilbao from your Sherpa, and also get some suggestions for what to do with your remaining time in the city.

The Basque natives now take guests on a gastronomical tour of the best that Bilbao has to offer to foodies and wine lovers. Josue frequently partners with restaurant owners to help them find the best regional products to use in their dishes. Miriam focuses more on Fine Arts and Design products, and is more than happy to talk at length about the architectural innovations currently going on in Bilbao.

Really good fun – and interesting!!

We had a great time at the pintxos cooking class. The guides were so friendly, hospitable, and went above and beyond to make our experience memorable and great. The chef was knowledgeable, and the food was absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend this for anyone looking for something different, sociable, and enjoyable! Definitely would do this again…

Such a GREAT experience

We really enjoyed this class – such a great way to experience the food and culture of this region. Alex and Josue were so lovely and did so much to tailor the experience to our interests. They catered to our dietary requirements as well. Really interesting, informative, authentic – and incredibly delicious!! We learned how to make amazing food that we can hopefully replicate at home. It’s such a great way to add to a visit and definitely was value for money. We had a lot of fun and want to do it again next time as well… Highly recommend!

Hands on cooking

Very nice hands on cooking experience in Bilbao. We made pintxos and more with a chef in one of Bilbaos open kitchens. The atmosphere was nice and we enjoyed the food!
Besides, the hosts are extremely friendly. Miriam was very helpful with tips for restaurants and places to visit for our stay.
