Cava is Spain’s signature sparkling wine and it’s produced right here in Cataluña! Essentially a less hyped-up version of the French champagne, Cava is a delight that every foodie and wine-lover should try on their trip to Barcelona.
On this bubbly afternoon wine tour, you’ll start in the trendy El Born neighborhood and walk through the beautiful cobblestoned streets to the Gothic Quarter. Mireia, your native Sherpa, will share her experience as a professional sommelier in two Michelin star restaurants and show some of her favorite spots for trying authentic Cava. You’ll taste three different types, each with a different color, taste and region of origin. You’ll also have the opportunity to pair these wines with a creative pastry made by Chef Carles Mampel. As you sip this delightfully fizzy local specialty, Mireia will explain the production process behind it and answer any questions you may have.

A well informed, yummy experience
Our guide took us for a really informative tour around the historical area of Barcelona. She was really knowledgeable about this history, and able to answer all of our questions in excellent English. As part of the tour we visited a market, learning about food in Spain, and tasting as we went. We had breakfast (with cava) and an interesting explaination of Cava, and tried a couple of Catalan breakfast specialties before setting off on a walking tour taking in oil tasting and a wonderful cake shop for bonbons.
The tour ended at a wine bar for simple tapas and wine tasting and a chance to eat some of the produce bought in the market.
This would usually not be my choice of tour, but It was a gift and genuinely was one of the best things I did in Barcelona

Casual atmosphere with our own table. It was like going out with friends. Lovely evening stroll through Gothic Qtr with interesting bits of history.

Wonderful wine tasting experience off the beaten path
Mireia did a wonderful job explaining the differences in the wine. She was also an excellent tour guide for the area. We really enjoyed the places she choose and the collection of wines and tapas.
Excellent Cava tour
Excellent guide with great knowledge in wine and Cava made it a great experience. She also had good histories and knew a lot about he gothic quarter of Barcelona.
We went with 4 of our friends on the cava tasting tour in Barcelona’s gothic quarter. It was our first visit to Barcelona and we hadn’t made it to this part of the City, so it was great to have a guide.
The tasting was in one wine bar and we tried 3 different kinds, more importantly, we matched them with the most delicious cakes.
