Whether it is your first time in Valencia or you have visited before, you are sure to enjoy this tour discovering the myths and legends of Valencia at historical sites. Paired with some of the most enticing tapas in the city, you’ll learn about the history of The Old City of Valencia.
Valencia was once a Phoenician, Iberian, Roman, Visigoth, Muslim, Jewish and Christian city and has been influenced by each culture throughout history. Each culture has left many impacts that are still visible for locals and travelers to enjoy daily. You will visit 5 of Valencia’s most important neighborhoods: Seu, Xerea, Carme, Mercat & Velluters.
These neighborhoods represent the ecclesiastical power, the Moorish enclosure, the Jewish quarter, the popular boroughs, and the city’s merchants & artisans. You’ll taste Valencian tapas along the way as well as visit the Mercat Central in order to get to know the specific products and techniques used for cooking Paella. Vegetables, meats, fishes, spices and rice are all important when cooking an authentic Paella!
The tour finishes with a traditional meal consisting of salad, paella, dessert and a drink of your choice. Eva and Javier, your local Sherpas will be happy to explain you the history of the Paella dish and about their passion for fresh and simple ingredients!

This was just the most wonderful tour and we loved every minute of it. Our guide, was so knowledgeable and interesting and we enjoyed learning about the fascinating history of this magnificent city as we walked around it. We saw all the main sights in the old city and our guide also took us to some unusual places, also giving us ideas for our subsequent 2 days in Valencia – some places to revisit and new places to see. The communication was fantastic before we even met – she even emailed to warn me the clocks were going forward in Spain the night before our tour. He went out of his way to come and meet us near our apartment for the start of the tour and as the tour progressed we found him to be utterly charming and he helped us to fall in love with this beautiful city. We stopped for a delicious tapas mid way through the morning in a gorgeous little square which we wouldn’t have found on our own. The paella lunch at the end was absolutely superb. We had a huge choice of dishes (we could have eaten them all!) and the one we chose was just so good, a true Valencian dish and the reason that the city is the home of paella. If you are only going to Valencia for a short visit this is the perfect tour to do, but also if you are going for longer then I would suggest doing this to start with as your guide will give you so much information. We were sorry that we didn’t have time to do any of other tours – but we will return and do them next time. This tour exceeded all our expectations and deserves 5 *’s. Muchas gracias.
