Welcome to the land of the Sherry

Did you know that the Spanish Sherry wine traditions origin as far as three thousand years and that the name itself comes from the Moorish name for the city of Jerez (Sherish) producing the famous drink? No wonder, that this legendary drink was the favorite wine of Christopher Columbus and some even say it was the muse and inspiration of William Shakespeare as he mentioned it plenty of times in his literary works.

If you are planning a trip to Seville or if you already find yourself wandering through the largest city of Andalusia, you should get to know this legendary drink and learn why the Andalusian people accompany their most beautiful moments of life with a glass (or two) of the delightful Sherry.  After this fun and cultural Sherry tasting, you will be able to relate to the many praises of Sherry wine during centuries and you might even get into the Andalusian life celebrating spirit.

Your local sherpa will take you to a typical Sherry tavern in the heart of Seville where you will taste 5 of the most authentic Sherry wines and learn all about the production and differences of more than ten different types of this jewel of Andalusia. You will find out how the very special climate and geographical conditions of the region of Jerez and a unique ageing and blending process determine the distinct characteristics of Sherry wines.

Taste some of the most authentic Mosto, Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso, Cream, Pedro Ximénez or others, accompanied by some delicious locally produced cheese, olives and traditional charcuterie.

Don’t miss this unique experience as our small groups fill up quickly!

Great fun and highly informative

Our guide, Paco, was full of information about the production of sherry and answered all our (many) questions with great patience. We tried the 5 main types of sherry, each one accompanied by a tapas designed to bring out the flavour of that particular variety. We came away from the tour having learned a lot about both how sherry is made, the Seville region, and which wines were our favourites. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone who wants to better understand this regional speciality.

We had a very good experience today tasting sherry and tapas. Five different sherries along with five different tapas, much over the regular level of creativity. Paco told generously about sherry and everyday life in Sevilla. The Tour is highly recommendable to any tourist who likes to taste and listen. Paco sprecht genau so gut Deutsch wie Englisch. Mette
