Discover the culture of Zaragoza through its great food and wine
This culinary and cultural experience in Zaragoza is all about the influence from the city’s surrounding Northern and Eastern Mediterranean neighbors. Zaragoza is located in the region of Aragon, which has 4 Denominacion de Origen (DO) certified wine regions. These provinces are Campo de Borja, Cariñena, Calatayud and Somotano.You will have the chance to taste wine from each of these DO provinces and learn about how to properly compare the different flavors and aromas of each wine during the guided tastings.
Somotano in Latin means “beneath the mountains” which describes exactly the geographical location of the province. Here, black and white grape varieties are grown in over 4,000 hectares of land. The second province is Calatayud, which is most popular for it’s Garnacha grapes, encompassing roughly one-third of the provinces grape agriculture. Third, is the province of Cariñena, known for producing young wines with excellent balance of acidic and fruity flavors. Lastly, the fourth DO province is Campo de Borja,which produces a unique white wine made from 100 percent Macabeo grapes.
Each tasting will take place in a gourmet shop where you will get expert guidance. Tapas will also be included, featuring Aragonese cuisine, like local products such as cheeses and Teruel ham!

Meet Jorge, Your Native Sherpa
Jorge left his hometown of Zaragoza to travel Europe, working and studying in different parts of England, after which he spent 5 years in Munich, Germany. He spent 2016 and 2017 studying at the Basque Culinary Center in San Sebastian, where he earned a master’s Degree in Culinary Tourism. Nowadays, Jorge finds joy talking to travelers about the history and delicious food and wine options to be found in Zaragoza.
My husband and I made a one night stop in Zaragoza on our way to Madrid while on our honeymoon. We wanted to get to know the city the best we could in a short amount of time, so I booked a food tour with Jorge. We had the best time! It was just the three of us on a random Tuesday night. He took us all over the city, giving us a little history along the way. We would’ve never been able to find the little hidden gems without him. We learned so much about the local wines, as well as the local cuisine. The food he suggested was unlike any other we tasted while in Spain. Delicious! If you’re a foodie who really wants to get to know Zaragoza and immerse yourself in its culture, book this trip. I assure you, you won’t regret it. I think Jorge was such a big reason as to why we fell in love with this city. We will definitely be back, and we’ll be calling our friend Jorge to join us for a drink. I enjoyed this tour in Zaragoza very much when I went with my daughter a month ago. We had a great time and not only enjoyed some delicious tapas but also learning more about Spanish food, traditions and Zaragoza and its history. Our guide was Jorge was excellent – very friendly and informative. We really recommend a visit to Zaragoza and a tour wth Jorge – its a great experience!

Autant dire qu’en tant que grand amateur de tapas et de vin mes attentes étaient grandes… eh bien Jorge a été bien au-delà de tout ce que j’attendais !
Du bar à tapas traditionnel au plus moderne, ses conseils sont franchement avisés. Le vieux quartier de Saragosse (le fameux “tubo”) propose une grande variété de choix de bars et prendre un guide s’est avéré être une très bonne idée. En plus Jorge ADORE sa ville et transmet toute sa passion. Question vin, il m’a fait découvrir le somontano… j’en reprendrai 🙂
