Discover the secrets of jamón iberico, spanish cheese and wines
On this relaxed tour of Madrid, you’ll get to know Spain’s very best traditional specialties – Iberian wine, cheese and ham. It’s not for no reason that jamón ibérico is widely considered one of the best hams produced in the whole world – it is made only from black Iberian pigs which are fed a special diet of acorns to produce a unique flavor. You will learn all about the different types of Spanish cured ham, how they are produced, the differences between jamón serrano and jamón ibérico and even how the experts carve them.
Your tour is led by Mariana, your local sherpa who will share her knowledge and secrets of Spanish delicacies with you. You will also visit a traditional jamonería(ham shop), the perfect spot to taste ham, chorizo, lomo andmanchego cheese and how to pair them with quality Spanish wines.

Meet Mariana, Your Native Sherpa
Mariana has made here home in Madrid for the past decade, which makes her the perfect food and wine tour guide for the nation’s capital. Besides just talking about the magnificent food and wine on offer, Mariana, a passionate ‘madrileña’, also loves to talk about the art and city’s culture, so you will learn all you need to know about Madrid when you let Mariana guide you.
Me, my husband and our two children (ages 2 and 7) toured Madrid -the Royal Palace- with Mariana for two days in August and had a fantastic time. Her knowledge of the city and its art its incredible. She’s a sweet, informed and witty guide. We learned about history, economics, arts, architecture, food and culture. My husband is a wanna be Master chef, food means everything to him and Mariana did not disappointed his exquisite palate with the most succulent cocido Madrileño. Our children had a great time too, Mariana was very friendly and she truly enjoyed their company. She was flexible enough to adapt her well prepared tour to our needs. I recommend Mariana without hesitation!

Great foodie tour if you love ham and cheese!
Mariana was a great guide. She took us around the San Miguel market which was so much fun to see the sights, and hear about the different booths, history, favorites, etc. And we really loved going so the Jamonerie she took us too, and learning about the different qualities, grades ,etc. By far, it was the best jamon we had while in Spain. Not all jamoneries are the same, even if the sell the same thing. We are so happy we learned about the one she took us too that we had to go back a second time, after trying lesser quality places afterwards. Definitely worth going on the tour!

Fantastic way to spend an afternoon
We had a great time with Mariana on this tour! Not only did she do a great job telling us about the different cheeses from Spain while we tasted them at the Mercado de San Miguel and introducing us to the variety of Spanish hams (along with a glass of wine or two), she also provided some great historical insights as we walked through the City. Mariana was very personable and a fantastic tour guide – she even found us a Top 10 Irish Pub to visit since we were there on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day!
